Canterbury Enterprises was started in 1986 by Cliff Lahner who recognized the need for window coverings in the public housing industry.  Initially, Cliff was employed by Cooper-Kirsch but worked independently from the basement of his home, using a folding table and a phone.  He travelled the country, doing window covering shows and meeting with potential customers.  He worked hard to establish a large customer base and finally became a window covering dealer known as Canterbury Enterprises.

In 1990, Cliff's daughter-in-law, Mona, came to work for him.  After being a stay-at-home mom for many years, she was new to the office scene but seemed to have a knack for it -- particularly the sales end of the business.  Cliff recognized her talent and asked her to hit the road with him.  She attended many window covering shows, learning the business, and in the year 2000, she was ready to take over, along with her husband, Brent.

Brent, "the warehouse guy", has been helping us in the warehouse since 1997.  Being the only guy in the office, we keep him pretty busy.  He does all of the hard labor, like custom-cutting our mini blinds, preparing shipments, and doing local install/measuring jobs.  Of all the things he does for us, we tell him the most valuable is that of varmint removal -- whether it be a mouse or just a spider, he is the only one brave enough to remove it!

Currently, besides Mona and Brent, we have two other employees, Nikki and Danielle.  Nikki has been with Canterbury since 1993.  She started here when she was in high school at the age of 17 and never left.  In fact, she likes it here so much that she couldn't bring herself to leave -- even after 9 years of college and a Bachelor's degree in Finance.  She is married with two boys, Lenny and Cameron.

Danielle, Mona's daughter, has worked here on and off over the years, and just recently came back last year after the birth of her son, Sean Austin.  Although she enjoys working here, she misses being at home with her young son.  She is married and eventually plans to have another child, but hopes to be able to continue here full-time.

Canterbury has always been a small company known for its outstanding customer service and personal attention.  We believe the customer is always right, and we stand by our products.  If you have a problem, we will make it right.
